The person in charge
Each of the administrative bodies of the Municipality of Moerdijk is a data controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for the processing operations carried out by or on behalf of the municipality. Our administrative bodies are:

- the City Council.

There are several ways to contact the Municipality of Moerdijk. For example, you can not only call or email us, but you can also chat with us via our website and ask us questions via WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn (social media).
When you contact us, we process your personal data. However, we handle your personal data with care. When you contact us via chat or social media, we process the name (and phone number) you provide, as well as the personal data you share with us through your message (in the form of text, a voice recording, an image, or a video). Messages you have sent to us are retained for a period of six months.
Responding to messages from residents
Purpose
Your personal data will be processed so that the municipality can contact you.
Basis
Pursuant to Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR, personal data may be lawfully processed if the processing is necessary to pursue the legitimate interests of the municipality. One of the municipality’s interests is to facilitate digital contact with citizens. This interest stems from the principles of proper service delivery established bythe National Ombudsman (NO)regarding digital contact between citizens and the government.
Categories of Personal Data
In order to respond to inquiries from citizens, the municipality processes the following personal data:
- your name;
- your phone number;
- any personal information you may share when contacting the municipality.
Recipients
When you contact us via social media, your personal data is processed in the OBI Engage software developed by Obi4wan. In principle, only authorized employees from the Communications Department and employees of the Customer Contact Center (KCC) have access to the messages you send us. In exceptional cases, Obi4wan employees may also view your personal data. This occurs only when Obi4wan employees need to perform maintenance on OBI Engage, which can only be carried out within the environment where your personal data is processed. Such access always takes place under clear, pre-established agreements and after signing a confidentiality agreement.
No Data Sharing or Profiling
Your personal data will not be processed outside the European Economic Area (EEA). We also do not create profiles of you based on your social media posts.
Automated Decision-Making
When you contact us via social media, no automated decision-making takes place. We also do not use algorithms.
