Rules for Waste Collection
Below are the “rules” for door-to-door collection and the use of underground containers.
Door-to-door collection
What You Need to Know
- Please place your trash in the designated container
- Present the container with the lid closed
- Place the container with the handle facing the street.
- Place the container in the designated clustering area. If there is no designated clustering area, place the container at the edge of the public roadway.
- Pay close attention to where your container is located after the collection service has emptied it. Next time, place the container on the same side of the road.
- Do not pack down the waste. This may cause some waste to remain in the container. This can also happen in freezing temperatures.
- A maximum of 80 kilograms of waste may be placed in the container
- You may place the container by the curb starting at 9:00 p.m. the evening before collection, but no later than 7:00 a.m. on the day of collection.
- Collection routes may begin at 7:00 a.m. each day. The garbage truck may pass through your street later than you are used to. In that case, just leave the bin outside.
- After emptying the container, bring it inside the same day, before 9:00 p.m.—even if it isn't completely empty.
A clean and fresh organic waste bin?
- Keep it dry: Place an old newspaper at the bottom of the container to prevent food scraps from sticking to the sides.
- Keep it clean: Clean the container regularly with hot water and green soap or a splash of vinegar
Underground container for general waste
What You Need to Know
- You can use the trash pass to open the lid of the underground container
- Hold the waste card close to the window at the top of the underground container
- You'll hear a click, and the valve will unlock
- Open the lid, place your trash bag in the drum, and make sure your trash doesn't get stuck
- Close the lid. The bag will fall into the underground container.
- Please remember to bring your waste collection card with you
- If, for any reason, you are unable to dispose of your trash in the container, please try the other underground container that you selected as your backup or second container.
- Under no circumstances should you leave trash next to the dumpster. This causes a nuisance for nearby residents. Animals tear the bags open, and everything ends up scattered on the street.
- The underground container is emptied regularly; this varies by location and depends on the volume of waste.
How do I dispose of my trash?
- Please place general waste in a bag
- Tie the bag closed to keep the drum from getting dirty.
