Do you have a community initiative? The municipality is happy to help bring your initiative to life wherever possible and necessary. We’d love to hear from you about how we can do that.

What is a community initiative?

When we think of community initiatives, we think of bringing together different groups of residents or organizing activities and solutions for vulnerable people. This can take many forms! From older adults and children enjoying fun activities together to organizing a group of volunteers to provide transportation for people with disabilities.

What are social initiatives not?

Not all changes you can see and touch in public spaces are considered community initiatives. Examples include a gathering spot in the form of a picnic bench, planting flowers, maintaining public green spaces on your own, and building a skate park.

Presenting Your Community Initiative to the Municipality

We assume that this is not just your initiative, but that there are enough people who support it. We call this “support.” We expect you to be able to show who supports your initiative and who is willing to help implement it. Therefore, there must be sufficient support for your initiative.

If there is sufficient support, we’d be happy to help bring your initiative to life. We don’t necessarily provide financial assistance, but we can help by connecting you with people who can further your initiative, by providing materials, offering advice, or tapping into the expertise of one of our colleagues.

The municipality can only award a grant to a legal entity, that is, an association or a foundation. Unfortunately, it is not possible to award grants to individual residents.

Of course, not everything is always possible—for example, due to safety concerns or legal regulations. If something isn’t possible, don’t let that discourage you too quickly. Together, we’ll explore whether there are other solutions. With openness, trust, respect, and appreciation for each other’s situations, we’ll make progress together!

Entrepreneurs and Community Initiatives

Entrepreneurs can also submit proposals if the plan has a social objective. The municipality can help by offering advice or providing logistical support. Entrepreneurs are not eligible for municipal grants; in other words, no funds are provided.
