No, once the burial has taken place, this is no longer possible. However, after 20 years, you may have the remains exhumed from a communal grave for reburial in a new private grave at the cemetery or elsewhere, or for cremation. The costs for the exhumation and any reburial are the responsibility of the entitled party. After the remains have been reburied at a municipal cemetery in Moerdijk, you will receive a new grave certificate. The costs for the lease and the maintenance fee (both for 20 years) will be billed to the beneficiary.

You pay a fee for the general maintenance of the cemetery. This is called the maintenance fee. This includes tasks such as trimming hedges, raking leaves, and mowing the lawn. In a sense, you are helping to contribute to the cemetery’s appearance.
The municipality registers a rights holder for a private grave. The rights holder leases a grave and has the authority to decide who may be buried in it. The rights holder decides whether or not to renew the grave lease. The municipality registers an interested party (contact person) for a communal grave. This person may use the grave to bury one deceased person.

The municipality will soon have floating urns shaped like water lilies. As soon as the floating urns are available, the information here will be updated.

Approximately 3 months before the burial rights for a private grave expire, the rights holder will be notified. A letter will be sent asking whether the rights holder wishes to renew the rights. A reply form and a return envelope are included.
Yes, that is permitted. On the attached form, indicate that you do not wish to renew the right and ask us to keep the urn niche available. Please return the form. You will then receive a letter stating that the right to the urn niche will expire on the specified date and that you may come to pick up the urn and, if applicable, the memorial plaque by appointment.
If the right holder has relinquished the burial rights, he or she has the opportunity to acquire ownership of the grave marker within 3 months after the expiration of the burial rights. If the grave marker is not picked up, the municipality will remove it in the spring of the following year. The grave marker will be destroyed.
