Fijnaart
Fijnaart is becoming greener. That’s because a greener village is better equipped to handle extreme weather, such as heavy downpours or heat waves. Residents and the “Climate-Resilient Fijnaart” working group of the village council, together with the municipality, will decide where the green spaces will be located. Want to get involved yourself? Help will also be available for people who want to make their own gardens greener.
Working together with residents to make the village and its gardens greener—that is the goal of Groener Fijnaart.
Fine-grained based on 3-30-300

Greening Map
Together with the regional roundtable and representatives from Fijnaart, a series of sessions was held to map out the goals and opportunities for greening the area. All projects have been plotted on the map; “anything is possible” is the motto. The timeframe for implementation has now been set at 10 years.

All ideas on the greening map have been assessed for short-term feasibility, in addition to their contribution to the 3-30-300 rule and their impact on extreme weather:
- Are there any cables or pipes that would make it impossible to plant trees in the near future?
- Does it help create additional water storage capacity?
- How popular is the measure among residents?
- Can we create job opportunities by linking the greening project to work already planned on the sewer system, sidewalks, parking spaces, etc.?
Get Started on Your Own
Greenery on the street is important, but so is greenery in the garden. Want to get started yourself? The municipality already offers a grant for this; you can read more about iton the grants page (opens in a new tab). More opportunities will be available in the near future. Keep an eye on local media, this website, or the municipality’s social media channels for updates.
