The Municipality of Moerdijk Will Stop Using WhatsApp Effective August 1 

EffectiveAugust 1, 2026, the municipality of Moerdijk will stop using WhatsApp as a communication channel for residents.

The municipality wants to assist residents safely, carefully, and to the best of its ability. In practice, however, WhatsApp has proven not to be the most suitable channel for this purpose. Many inquiries require personal information, such as an address, date of birth, or file number. Due to privacy laws, this information cannot be shared via WhatsApp. As a result, residents often had to call, email, or make an appointment after all. 

In addition, WhatsApp is less suitable for handling reports, applications, and other formal requests. Questions can be securely recorded, tracked, and resolved through the official municipal contact channels.
