New Business Association Brings Willemstad Together

Willemstad has had its own business association since June 2026. The initiative arose from a desire to connect business owners, share knowledge, and stand stronger together.

One of the organizers is Vivian from De Verhalerij bookstore. After living and working both in the Netherlands and abroad for many years, she returned to her hometown of Willemstad in 2020.

“The longer I was away, the more I realized just how special Willemstad really is,” says Vivian. “When I came back, I saw that a new generation of entrepreneurs had emerged.” 

"That made this the perfect time to reach out to each other and work together."

The business association was founded in collaboration with other business owners and at the initiative of city center manager Cees van Veen. The association is open to all business owners in Willemstad and aims to connect business owners, inspire one another, and work together on developments taking place in the city.

In the coming period, the association plans to organize meetings about four times a year, with a focus on getting together and collaborating.

“It’s important that we see each other not only as entrepreneurs, but also as colleagues,” says Vivian. “Everyone has their own strengths, and it’s precisely that diversity that makes Willemstad stronger.”

Marieke of Vino di Marie is also one of the founders of the new business association. So, of course, a photo of these two enthusiastic entrepreneurs was a must. Together, they share the ambition to connect entrepreneurs in Willemstad and further strengthen the local community.
