Municipality's Response to the Moerdijk High-Voltage Substation Plan 

TenneT and Enexis want to build a high-voltage substation between Zevenbergen and the village of Moerdijk. The municipality of Moerdijk has carefully reviewed the plans and has concerns.

To illustrate, here is a photo of the current 380-150 kV high-voltage substation in Diemen. This high-voltage substation has less capacity and also lacks a 20 kV medium-voltage substation. As a result, this substation covers a smaller area of approximately 16 ha.

TenneT and Enexis, the operators of the national and regional power grids, want to build a large combined high-voltage substation in Moerdijk. To that end, they are choosing between two locations adjacent to the port and industrial area on the side of the village of Moerdijk: on Krukweg or on Gorsdijk. The municipality of Moerdijk has reviewed the plans and has concerns.

Illogical and unsubstantiated

There is no doubt that the power grid needs to be expanded. However, the choices outlined in the plan are illogical and poorly substantiated in a number of respects.
