Are you curious about what actually happens at a council meeting? And would you like to know what council work entails? Perhaps you’re interested in politics or have even considered becoming a council member? If so, sign up for “Guest of the Council.”

Before a city council meeting, at 6:15 p.m., two council members and a staff member from the city clerk’s office will welcome you as a guest of the council. They’ll tell you all about the city council—its roles, responsibilities, how decisions are made, and so on. Together, you’ll review the agenda for that meeting and enjoy a light meal.

The chairperson will welcome you to the council meeting, and afterward we’ll look back on the session together with you while enjoying some light refreshments. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet the mayor and the other council members. Finally, you’ll receive some information to take home with you. This will give you a broad picture of what the council does.
