City Council Committees

The city council has three committees: Physical Infrastructure, Social Infrastructure, and Administration and Resources.

There are two types of committee meetings:

  • Exploratory committee meetings in which council members gather information. Council members and party representatives engage in discussions with residents, portfolio holders, and interest groups, but do not yet take a position.
  • Committee meetings held to form opinions, during which council members debate and exchange views. Before a topic is discussed, citizens and interested parties—at the invitation of the committee chair—can share their views on the topic or describe their experiences with the committee. The meetings of the Physical Infrastructure Committee, the Social Infrastructure Committee, and the Governance and Resources Committee are open to the public and begin at 7:30 p.m. As a general rule, exploratory and deliberative meetings are held once every six weeks. Exploratory meetings are held in the Moerdijkzaal or on-site. Deliberative meetings take place in the council chamber of City Hall.
