Explanatory description
History
Voormalig koetshuis behorende bij villa Waterloo (Prins Hendrikstraat 4). Na 1924 heeft het pand dienstgedaan als politiebureau en als onderkomen voor de brandweer.
Location
Het voormalig koetshuis is stedenbouwkundig uniek gelegen aan een centraal knooppunt in Zevenbergen, langs de oude uitvalsweg naar Hazeldonk en in combinatie met de naastgelegen villa Waterloo.
Architectural and art-historical features:
Exterior
Voormalig koetshuis van villa Waterloo (1870), gebouwd in ecclectisisme, rondboogstijl. Gebouw opgetrokken in baksteen, nu ontpleisterd, voorzien van samengestelde schilddaken gedekt met beverstaartpannen met crete en voorzien van enkele dakkapelletjes in chaletstijl en een vorstkam. Boogfries rondom gebouw onder kroonlijst. Hoektoren met tentdak bedekt met leien en voorzien van piron, driezijdige uitbouw, trapgevels waarvan 1 voorzien van windvaan en halfrond toren element. Getoogde ramen, deels stolpramen onder rondbogen met wenkbrauwbogen, sluitstenen in vensteromlijsting, muurankers. Diverse kasteelachtige elementen zoals schietspleten. Het pand is in 1978 gerenoveerd.
Public Interest
Het object is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als herinnering aan de eerste suikerfabriek van Nederland. Het kent een unieke stedenbouwkundige ligging en het bezit complexwaarde in combinatie met villa Waterloo. Het heeft architectuurhistorische waarde als koetshuis in eclectische stijl met onder andere kasteelachtige elementen en beverstaartpannen.
