Clothing and Textiles
From time to time, every household cleans out its closets. You get rid of anything that’s no longer in style or that you no longer wear. Clothing you’re discarding, as well as old blankets and rags, can be placed in a sealed bag and put in the textile recycling bin.
What is it?
- clothing (good clothing and worn-out clothing)
- shoes (fastened together in pairs)
- bedding, such as comforters, blankets, duvet covers, and sleeping bags
- home textiles, such as curtains, towels, washcloths, stuffed animals, and balls of yarn
- accessories, such as bags, belts, hats, caps, ties, and gloves
What isn't it?
- clothing or textiles with oil or paint stains
- wet or damp clothing or textiles
- mattresses
- garden cushions
- floor coverings, carpets, and mats
- pieces smaller than 25×25 cm
What happens to it?
Clothing and textiles are often given a second life. Clothing is sent to other countries or finds its way into vintage or thrift stores. Old clothing and textiles can also be effectively recycled. For example, they are repurposed as cleaning rags, stuffed animals, or insulation material.
Where could this lead?
You can bring your textiles in a sealed bag to the designated collection containers. You’ll find these containers at various locations throughout the municipality, usually near a supermarket; see the list below. The collection containers are emptied weekly on Tuesdays by Afvalservice Breda.
