Prevent Litter

Litter is one of the biggest nuisances: it makes the streets look messy and is harmful to animals and the environment.

Not everyone disposes of trash properly in the trash can. Garbage bags are also left next to trash containers. The litter that doesn’t end up in the trash can consists mainly of discarded or abandoned cans, plastic bottles, french fry containers, candy wrappers, cigarette butts, and chewing gum. Bags placed next to trash containers also contribute to litter because they are torn open—for example, by birds—causing the trash to blow away.

Borrowing equipment to clean up on your own?

Together, we’re taking on litter in Moerdijk! We have dedicated Litter Coordinators in a number of communities. They organize cleanup events and regularly go out themselves to pick up litter they see on the streets. You can also borrow cleanup supplies from them, such as litter pickers and trash bags.
