Noordtoren Municipal Cemetery, Zevenbergen

This cemetery opened on May 1, 2019, and is located on Klundertseweg in Zevenbergen.

The municipality of Moerdijk chose the name in consultation with the local history societies of Zevenbergen and Klundert. It refers to the former Noordpolder and Noordtorenpolder. The cemetery is located within the boundaries of these two polders.

This cemetery offers a number of new options that were not available before. For example, an urn can be placed in an urn column or a floating urn can be placed in the urn pond. The new cemetery also offers the option of scattering ashes at the scattering site.

Various burial options are available.

Private grave

A single- or double-layer grave, intended for the burial of:
- A maximum of two deceased individuals, or the underground interment of four urns (with or without an urn container), or the underground scattering of the ashes of four deceased individuals
- Or a combination of one deceased person in the lower layer and, in the upper layer, one or two ashes containers (with or without an urn), or the scattering of the ashes of one or two deceased persons underground
- Alternatively, a combination of one or two ash niches (with or without an urn) or the scattering of the ashes of two deceased individuals in the lower layer and of one deceased individual in the upper layer. After a deceased individual has been buried in the upper layer, no further interment of an urn or scattering of ashes may take place in the lower layer.
It is issued for a term of 20 years. This term may be extended by 10 years at any time upon request;

Natural Burial

A single deep grave in open ground with no visible marker and no provision for a grave covering, intended for the burial of:
- No more than one deceased person
- or the underground interment of two ashes (with or without an urn) or
- the underground scattering of the ashes of two deceased individuals;
The location is indicated by X/Y coordinates
Placing a headstone, memorial plaque, or planting around the grave is not permitted
It is issued for a term of 20 years. This term may be extended by 10 years at any time upon request;

Communal grave

A grave that provides the opportunity to bury a deceased person for a period of 10 years
The period cannot be extended
Limited grave covering is permitted.

Private children's grave

Grave marked with a single layer
For children ages 1 through 12 and children under 1 year of age
The graves are intended for the burial of no more than one deceased person or the interment of one ash container (with or without an urn).
It is issued for a term of 20 years. This term may be extended by 10 years at any time upon request.

Urn Column

An above-ground structure with private alcoves
It is intended for the interment of up to 2 cremation caskets, with or without urns.
An urn niche is issued for a term of 10 or 20 years. This term may be extended by 10 years at any time upon request;

Private urn grave

An underground plastic urn vault for the interment of up to 2 ash containers, with or without urns
Urn graves are issued for a term of 10 or 20 years. This term may be extended by 10 years at any time upon request.
A rights holder is being registered

Floating urn

A private urn grave that can be interred as a decorative element in the designated water feature
Intended for the interment of the ashes of up to two deceased persons
A floating urn is issued for a period of 10 or 20 years. This term may be extended by 10 years at any time upon request;

Scattering site for ashes

A designated area where ashes can be scattered.

Costs

Fees are charged based on the type of grave. For a private grave, you pay for the burial, the exclusive right (the lease), and the general maintenance of the cemetery (maintenance fee).

For a communal grave, you pay for the burial and the general maintenance of the cemetery (maintenance fee).
