Disability Parking Permit

With a disability parking permit, you can park in designated spots—for example, near stores, the pharmacy, and the library.

Good to Know

There are 3 types of disability parking permits:

  • Driver's Permit: If you have a disability and drive your own car. The parking permit is personalized; you can use it with any vehicle.
  • Passenger Card: if you rely on others for transportation due to a disability. A Passenger Card is issued to a specific individual.
  • Facility Card: This card is intended for (WLZ) facilities so that they can transport residents.

A disability parking permit is valid for up to 5 years. The permit you receive is a European disability parking permit and is valid in all countries of the European Union.

Terms and Conditions

  • You cannot walk more than 100 meters in one go (with a cane, walker, or other walking aid).
  • You are unable to walk long distances due to a disability or medical condition that has lasted longer than 6 months.
  • You need help walking from the car to the door.
  • You will need assistance from an attendant from door to door (passenger card only). Important: You will need assistance from the driver at all times.

You must pay the fee for applying for a disability parking permit immediately via iDeal at the end of the online application. If the payment is not completed, we unfortunately cannot process the application. If you are unable to pay via iDeal, please contact the municipality’s Wmo office.

Where can I park?

  • In most European countries. However, you must follow the rules that apply in the country where you park.
  • You may park outside the marked spaces, but you must not obstruct other road users. If you use your parking disc, you may park here for up to 3 hours.
  • You must pay for parking in disabled parking spaces, even if you have a disabled parking permit.

If your disability parking permit is lost or stolen, you must report it to the municipality. You can fill out, print, and sign a loss report yourself. You must submit the report in person at City Hall. Don’t forget to bring a recent passport photo and your ID.

Costs

  • Submitting an initial application or an amendment costs €113.95
  • Renewing the card without making any changes costs €53.85
  • Requesting a duplicate costs €15.20
  • A card for (WLZ) facilities costs €53.85

Please note: These fees are for processing your application. This means that no refund will be issued if your application is denied.

Yes, you can, provided you meet two conditions. First, you must have a disability parking permit of the “driver” or “driver+passenger” type, and this permit must be valid for more than 6 months. Second, you must not have a parking space on your own property.
