Mayor Closes Buildings in the Zwanengat Industrial Park
On Monday, March 23, 2026, Mayor Moerkerke closed several buildings at the Zwanengat industrial park in Zevenbergen. This action was taken following the discovery of a large quantity of cocaine and hashish.
As part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking, police discovered 1,857 kilograms of hashish and 1,021 kilograms of cocaine in Zevenbergen last Monday. The drugs were removed and destroyed. Police also seized several vehicles with hidden compartments and arrested four suspects.
Off the street
Thanks to the efforts of the police, law enforcement officers, customs officials, and other security partners, more and more drugs are being taken off the streets in Moerdijk. Mayor Aart-Jan Moerkerke: “The world behind drugs is one of explosive violence, the recruitment of increasingly younger children, and the destruction of lives. I am glad that our cooperation with our law enforcement agencies is so strong that we are increasingly able to keep drugs off the streets and put suspects behind bars.”
