Town Hall to Be Open as a Cooling Spot in the Coming Days
It’s hot. That’s why the town hall at Pastoor van Kessellaan 15 in Zevenbergen will be open today, tomorrow, and Saturday as a cooling center. Residents can come here from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. to cool off and rest. Please also keep an eye on people around you who are vulnerable to the heat, such as the elderly, young children, pregnant women, and people with health issues.
Who is this for?
The cooling center is primarily intended for the elderly, young children, pregnant women, people with health conditions, and residents of homes that heat up quickly. No registration is required, and use of the cooling center is free. Currently, there is one cooling center. The municipality is monitoring the situation to determine whether more locations are needed.
What should I bring?
It’s best to bring your own bottle of water. If you plan to stay longer, it’s a good idea to bring something to eat. The cooling center is not a medical facility. If you’re experiencing severe symptoms due to the heat, call 112.
What can you do yourself during a heat wave?
Drink enough water, even if you’re not thirsty: about 1.5 to 2 liters a day. Stay out of the sun as much as possible and avoid strenuous activity between 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Also keep an eye on people around you who are vulnerable to the heat, such as older adults, young children, pregnant women, and people with health issues. Call or visit someone who might need help. That’s how we look out for one another.
