By 2035, Klundert will be a wonderful place to live, nestled in an oasis of greenery

By 2035, Klundert will be a place where our residents and visitors can enjoy spending time together in a green environment. A fortified town with a compact and well-rounded commercial center where people can meet, featuring a cluster of shops alongside space for housing, restaurants, and other amenities. Klundert’s unique gems—including the Stenen Poppen and City Hall—are connected to the vibrant heart of the town center. This also makes Klundert a wonderful tourist attraction that piques visitors’ curiosity. The municipal executive proposes that the city council adopt the downtown vision for Klundert at the council meeting on January 30, 2025, and give the green light to make various projects in downtown Klundert a reality.

City Hall Open House

In addition to establishing this vision, we also want to give the center of Klundert a direct boost through the first major projects. “One important project is opening Klundert’s town hall to the public. In addition to its restoration, repurposing, and sustainability upgrades, the people of Klundert want to make the town hall fully accessible to the public for the long term, so that residents and visitors can enjoy it year-round. The town center will soon exude history and be lively, welcoming, and full of character,” explains Councilman Danny Dingemans. This initiative stems from the town center vision that has been developed. This vision was formulated in consultation with Klundert residents and based on the feasibility study regarding repurposing and sustainability improvements.

Supermarket Expansion

The Klundert Downtown Development Project, Phase 3—which includes the redevelopment of the Doorsteek and Westerstraat and the expansion of the supermarket—will proceed once the city council has adopted the downtown vision. The project team will then begin the feasibility phase, which is expected to be completed by mid-2026. Once the downtown vision for Klundert has been adopted, the letter of intent for the Klundert Downtown Development Project, Phase 3, will be signed.
