More public drinking water fountains in the municipality of Moerdijk
Update: Due to circumstances, Brabant Water will be installing the water taps later than planned this month.
New drinking water fountains will be installed at various locations throughout the municipality in the coming period. This will make it easier for residents and visitors to get free drinking water while out and about. Installation will begin in early May and will take place at multiple locations within the municipality.
Where and when will the water stations be set up?
The work will be carried out in phases at the following times:
- Klundert – Voorstraat: May 4, 2026
- Langeweg – Kloosterlaan: May 6, 2026
- Willemstad – Lantaarndijk: May 7, 2026
- Zevenbergen – Toutenburg: May 8, 2026
In addition, there are already drinking water fountains at Zuidhaven in Zevenbergen and at the Dorpshart playground in Moerdijk.
Preparation and Collaboration
When planning the water faucets, we assessed where they were technically feasible and how they could be installed in the most efficient way possible. Where possible, the work was combined with other projects.
In places where that wasn't possible, we looked for a suitable alternative. Clear agreements were made with Brabant Water regarding this. As a result, the water faucets can also be installed at these locations, and Brabant Water will handle their management and maintenance going forward.
Healthy, social, and attractive
The installation of water fountains encourages people to drink water, which contributes to a healthy lifestyle. The fountains are placed in areas where people gather, play, or spend time. In this way, they not only provide free drinking water, but also foster social interaction and create a pleasant public space.
Additional water tap thanks to a residents' initiative
At the initiative of residents in Langeweg, an additional location has been added to the implementation plan. The water tap on Kloosterlaan in Langeweg fits well with the village’s greening plans and was found to be technically feasible.
