Draft “Westschans” Environmental Plan for Klundert Available for Public Review
The municipality of Moerdijk is planning to develop a new residential neighborhood called “Westschans” on the west side of Klundert. It will be a sustainable, climate-resilient, safe, and age-friendly neighborhood with space for 140 homes. The neighborhood will connect to the existing De Blauwe Hoef residential area and will include not only single-family homes but also two apartment complexes.
High Demand for Housing
The Westschans development addresses the significant and urgent need for new housing in the region. By creating a diverse mix of housing types, the neighborhood provides a home for people of all ages, from young to old, as well as families and singles.
Amendment to the Environmental Plan Is Necessary
The proposed development does not comply with the current environmental plan, under which the land is still zoned and designated for agricultural use. An amendment to the environmental plan will make the development of Westschans legally and planning-wise feasible.
