Procedure Begins for New High- and Medium-Voltage Substations at the Port of Moerdijk
TenneT and Enexis plan to build new high- and medium-voltage substations in the vicinity of the Moerdijk port and industrial area. They are currently searching for a suitable location. The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy (EZK) is therefore initiating a land-use planning procedure. You have until April 25, 2024, to submit comments on the plans for this project. You are also welcome to attend the information session on Thursday, March 21.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy (EZK) and TenneT plan to build a new 380 kV high-voltage substation and a new 150 kV high-voltage substation in the vicinity of the Moerdijk port and industrial area. This will be done in close consultation with the municipality of Moerdijk. As part of the project, a location is also being sought for a 20 kV medium-voltage substation operated by Enexis. Due to spatial and technical considerations, it is preferable to combine these substations at a single location or in close proximity to one another. The three substations are necessary to enable the industry in and around Moerdijk to become more sustainable and to reduce CO2 emissions, with the goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2050. This project will also create a potential new connection point for feeding offshore wind energy into the power grid.
Help us brainstorm ideas for the plans
The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, TenneT, and Enexis believe it is important for everyone to have a say in the plans for these new high- and medium-voltage substations. The Draft Plan and Proposal for Public Participation will be available for review through April 25, and you are invited to provide feedback. This document explains what the project entails, the areas where you can provide input, and how to submit your comments. More information is available on the website of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency.
