School Development at Zevenbergschen Hoek

In the heart of Zevenbergschen Hoek, a multifunctional facility (MFA) is being built to house a elementary school, a daycare center, and a community center. The Het Bossche Lijntje Tennis Club will also use the MFA as its clubhouse. De Hoeksteen Elementary School in Zevenbergschen Hoek is outdated and no longer meets today’s functional and technical requirements. Driven by the desire for multifunctional use of the school building, the municipality is combining the construction of the new school with new buildings for the childcare center and the community center. The existing Bloemendaal sports hall will be integrated into the new MFA.

What is the latest update?

Once the final design (DO) and technical design (TO) have been completed, the city council will be asked to approve the investment funding for the construction of the new replacement building. The council is expected to approve the funding for the construction of the MFA in May 2025, after which the entire project can be put out to bid.

In addition, the municipal council has decided to temporarily house De Hoeksteen Elementary School in and around the village hall during the construction of the MFA (largely by installing temporary units). A design has been created for the temporary housing of De Hoeksteen Elementary School that allows the village hall’s activities to continue using the village hall, with temporary units placed adjacent to it for the elementary school and the after-school care program.  The temporary housing was completed during the summer vacation of 2024, and De Hoeksteen Elementary School moved into the temporary facilities at the start of the new school year. 

Next, the existing buildings of De Hoeksteen Elementary School were demolished, and the site was prepared for construction. The project to build the new MFA will be put out to bid starting in June 2025, and if the bidding process is successful, construction could begin as early as the end of 2025. 

The new MFA is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, so that the move can take place during the Christmas break and operations can begin in the new building in January 2027.
