Westschans Residential Development

The goal of the project is to create a sustainable, lifetime-ready residential neighborhood with approximately 140 homes at the Blauwe Hoef site. This will address the need for housing and is in keeping with the character and scale of Klundert. A feasibility study for the new neighborhood has now been completed. A separate access road is necessary to connect the neighborhood to the Stoofdijk.

The working title “Blauwe Hoef” for the new residential neighborhood has been changed to “Westschans.” This was done to distinguish it from the existing Blauwe Hoef neighborhood and to symbolically establish a connection with the fortified town of Klundert.

The draft environmental plan was made public in the first quarter of 2025 and was available for public review for six weeks. Comments were received in response. Additional research is currently being conducted to address all of the comments. Afterward, the environmental plan will be adopted by the council and then made available for public review for another six weeks. Once the environmental plan has been irrevocably adopted, outdoor work—specifically, site preparation—will begin. During the same period, the sale of the land will commence; this is expected to take place in 2027.
