Climate Grant
Heat waves, longer periods of drought, and downpours: climate change is causing us to face these conditions more and more often. With this grant program, the municipality of Moerdijk is helping residents, homeowners’ associations, and businesses adapt their gardens and roofs to the changing climate. You can apply for subsidies for, among other things, green roofs, rain barrels (and other water reservoirs), and measures that involve replacing pavers with greenery or permeable paving. A complete overview of the measures for which you can receive a subsidy is provided below under the heading “What You Can Get a Subsidy For (Overview).”
Under “Terms and Conditions,” you can find out which costs are eligible for a grant. For example, you cannot apply for a grant for costs you have already incurred.
Important: All rules and conditions regarding this grant are set forth in the Moerdijk Climate Resilience Grant Program. Below is a partial list of the conditions. You are eligible for the grant if you fully meet all the conditions. You can view the regulations on the government’s Local Laws and Regulations website or apply via info@moerdijk.nl.

Submit with application
Please submit the following with your application:
- A quote or estimate for the relevant materials and/or the performance of the work. Please note: This estimate must include a detailed plan with a quote and product prices; otherwise, the request will not be processed.
- Photos of the situation before the measures were implemented.
Once the work has been completed, you must submit proof within 10 weeks of receiving the grant. For more information, see the “Conditions” drop-down menu.
Who is eligible to apply for a grant?
- Homeowners and renters in the municipality of Moerdijk.
- Homeowners' associations and businesses that own land and buildings within the municipality of Moerdijk.
New construction and complete renovations carried out by a real estate developer or housing authority are excluded from this subsidy program.
If you are a tenant
When applying for a subsidy for the installation of green roofs or other measures that directly affect the building, tenants and other users must submit the landlord’s written consent.
What can you apply for a subsidy for?The tables below list which costs are eligible for a subsidy and which are not. Table 1 lists the subsidies for homeowners and tenants, while Table 2 lists the subsidies for homeowners’ associations (VVE) and businesses that own both the land and the building.
You may only apply for a grant for future work, not for measures that have already been carried out or purchased
- The work for which you are applying for a grant may not be carried out until after the grant has been awarded.
- The work for which you are applying for a grant must be completed within 8 weeks of the grant being awarded.
You may combine this grant with other grants, subject to certain conditions
Under this program, the applicant may combine the “Moerdijk Climate-Resilient Grant” with other grants from the national government, the province, or the water board (“stacking”) provided that:
- the subsidy from the municipal executive does not exceed the subsidy that the applicant receives from the national government, the province, or the water district;
- the total cumulative subsidies do not exceed 100% of the total costs of the proposed measures and related activities.
When submitting your application, please inform the municipality that you are also applying for or have applied for a subsidy elsewhere for the same measure:
- The applicant must notify the municipal executive if the national government, the province, or a water board provides a subsidy or discount for the same measure.
- If it is determined that the grant was received in error, the municipal executive will decide to reduce or revoke the grant award or approval, after which the municipal executive will recover the amount of the grant provided.
Would you like to work with others in your neighborhood to take actions that benefit the climate or water management? If you launch such an initiative together, you may be eligible for an additional grant. You can read more about this on the website of the North Brabant Neighborhood Nature and Water Fund.
What do we ask in return?
You must submit the invoices for the costs of the measures carried out and a photo of the situation after completion to the municipality no later than 10 weeks after the grant is awarded. You must submit the following to:
- invoices for the costs of the measures implemented;
- Photos of the situation after the measures were implemented.
Please note: If the costs of the work performed exceed the budget, you are not entitled to an additional grant.
