Apply for, Renew, and Pick Up a Driver's License
You can renew your driver’s license online through the RDW website. If you renew online, you’ll only need to visit city hall once instead of twice. After 5 business days, you’ll receive an email from the RDW notifying you that your driver’s license is ready. To pick up your driver’s license, you’ll need to make an appointment with us.
Renew or apply at City Hall
You are applying for a driver's license for the first time. Or perhaps you'd rather not renew it online through the RDW. In that case, handle it through your local municipality.

You can apply for the health certificate through the RDW website, or you can use the button below to make an appointment with the municipality.
Need a driver's license fast?
If you have an appointment with us, you can get your driver’s license faster by submitting an expedited application. If you submit your expedited application by 2:00 p.m., you can pick up your driver’s license the next business day. There is an additional fee for expedited applications.
Lost or stolen driver's license?
If your driver's license has been lost or stolen, you can report it online to the RDW (DigiD required). Bring proof of this report with you to city hall when you apply for a new driver's license.
If you suspect that you are a victim of identity theft, you should take several steps immediately. The Dutch government’s website provides a clear overview of the steps you need to take.
