Request for Confidentiality of Personal Data

Do you live in the municipality of Moerdijk and do not want the municipality to share your personal data with others? If so, you can request that the data in the personal data section of the Basic Register of Persons (BRP) be kept confidential.

Good to Know

  • You can only request confidentiality on behalf of yourself and your minor children. If your child is of legal age, he or she must request confidentiality on his or her own behalf.
  • The municipality is required to comply with your request within 4 weeks and may not impose any additional requirements. For example, the municipality may not limit the validity of such a request to a specific period, may not charge any fees, and may not require you to provide a justification.

Terms and Conditions

Your personal data is included in the Basic Registration of Persons (BRP). This includes information about your name, address, place of residence, marital status, and nationality. The municipality handles this information with the utmost care. The disclosure of this information to others is subject to strict rules.

  • In some cases, the municipality is required to provide information, for example, to the Tax Authority, the Social Insurance Bank, and the notary.
  • When initiating a lawsuit, an attorney must be able to present an extract from the Basic Register of Persons (BRP). If you have requested confidentiality, the municipality will first ask for your consent. The municipality will then weigh the various interests involved.
  • You can only request or revoke confidentiality with the Municipality of Moerdijk if you live in Moerdijk.
  • If you move to another municipality, the confidentiality of your information remains in effect. You do not need to submit a new request.
  • The request has no expiration date. The confidentiality agreement remains in effect until you revoke it.

You can ask the municipality not to disclose your information to:

  • SILA (Interdenominational Membership Records Foundation), which maintains membership records for religious communities
  • Individuals and non-commercial organizations designated by the municipality
