Sports Agreement
In 2019, the Ministry of Health, Welfare, and Sport (VWS) and a number of major sports organizations drafted a National Sports Agreement. Sports providers, residents, and partners from the municipality of Moerdijk then took on the challenge of developing a local sports agreement for our municipality as well. And we are proud to announce that the Moerdijk Sports Agreement was signed on February 19, 2020. Working groups were subsequently formed, and the first plans have now been drawn up!
Implementation
Working Groups
The foundation for a successful collaboration was laid in 2020! All participants have signed up for one or more working groups:
- Sports and Physical Activity for Everyone
- Sustainable Sports Infrastructure
- Owning and Operating a Fitness Center
- Safe and Healthy
Each working group is further developing the set of agreements outlined in the Moerdijk Sports Agreement and drawing up an implementation plan. A budget has also been allocated to each working group for this purpose. Each working group has two coordinators, and these coordinators, together with the municipality of Moerdijk, form the steering committee. The steering committee oversees the entire process and is responsible for the central themeof “Working Together.”
Are you not yet part of a working group, but would you like to be? If so, please let Stephanie Verdoolaege at the Moerdijk municipality know.
The Initial Plans
The working groups have worked hard to draw up the initial plans, despite these unusual times! They met in person or online for an initial brainstorming session. The plans have now been finalized and approved by the Steering Committee. Some working groups have even gotten started already. For example, a webinar on Social Safety was held in the fall of 2020.
February 2020: Signing of the Moerdijk Sports Agreement
After a number of productive meetings (led by sports coordinator Jan Kossen), the Moerdijk Sports Agreement was signed on February 19, 2020, in the town of Klundert by many stakeholders: De Kieviten, Optisport, Spido, Zevenbergen Hockey Club, VV Klundert, TV de Lobbelaer, CKV DSO Klundert, Zwembad de Oester, Dorpstafel Fijnaart, Stichting de Waarden, AV de Groene Ster, Karate Moerdijk, LR and PC Irene, Jeu de Boules Zevenbergen, a resident of Noordhoek, the Municipal Health Service (GGD), Energiek Moerdijk, Surplus, Meer Moerdijk, and the municipality of Moerdijk.
It was a wonderful evening that featured not only the signing but also an impressive talk by paratriathlete Saskia den Ouden and a fascinating (fitness) demonstration by Lifestyle 13!
The sports agreement is a set of commitments that we will work on together, at least in 2020, 2021, and 2022.
Feel free to join us!
Although the agreement has already been signed, that doesn’t mean you can’t join later. After all, the central theme is “Working Together.” Together, we’re trying to take sports in the municipality of Moerdijk to the next level! The contact person for the municipality of Moerdijk is Stephanie Verdoolaege. The municipality is one of the parties involved, just like all the other stakeholders. Together, we’re implementing the sports agreement. Do you have any questions, or would you like to join? Please let Stephanie know atinfo@moerdijk.nlor by calling 0625348492.
