Heat Conduction/Amernet

Electricity is generated at the Amer Power Plant. The heat released during this process is used to heat homes in several neighborhoods in Breda and Tilburg (Amernet).

To supply the Amernet network, the province is investigating whether it is possible to source heat from Attero’s waste-to-energy plant or other residual heat from industrial companies in the Moerdijk industrial park.

This means that an underground pipeline is needed to transport the heat. Currently, studies are underway to determine where this pipeline should be located. The owner of the heating network (Ennatuurlijk) is also investigating whether it is possible to use geothermal energy from the ground in the area between the Moerdijk port and industrial zone, Breda, and Geertruidenberg. To that end, the company has applied for an exploration permit from the national government.
