What are we going to do?
In 2026, we began exploring various options for a natural gas-free Klundert-Oost. A new, sustainable, and natural gas-free swimming pool is being built to replace the current Niervaert facility. This swimming pool presents an opportunity to work with the surrounding homes in the eastern part of Klundert (see map) to develop a natural gas-free system.
Starting February 20, we’re asking all residents of Klundert to fill out a questionnaire so we can properly incorporate their opinions and wishes into the study. The results will be included in the study. Since we’re currently studying the eastern part of Klundert around the Niervaert, the responses from those residents are very important. The remaining results will be incorporated later when we examine how the entire town of Klundert can become natural gas-free. Making an entire town natural gas-free is a major undertaking and takes time. Such a process can easily take 10 years. The area around the Niervaert that we are currently studying has an advantage in this regard: many homes were built during the same period, and Woonkwartier is planning to renovate its homes anyway.

The map above shows Klundert. The Niervaert is marked with a red dot, and there is a red-outlined area showing the homes located around the Niervaert. These homes are located south of the Niervaert.
