Welcome and Announcements
The chairperson welcomes everyone and notes that there have been quite a few discussions over the past three months. An update on these will be provided this evening. Two positive developments for our village during this period that are certainly worth mentioning are: the housing construction project across from the Steenweg, which is already progressing rapidly, and the wonderful and well-attended Classic Car Festival at the end of August.
Starting July 15, the City will publish all announcements exclusively online.
Spatial Planning Working Group
- Facility Point Moerdijk
On July 18, an environmental permit was granted for Phase 1. This involves the construction of an access control system, fencing, restrooms, office space, and lighting in the current parking lot. Phase 2 is currently being further developed. This involves the construction of a large-scale, secure truck parking area with the desired amenities and facilities. A restaurant is also part of this project. The municipality plays no role in the closure of Restaurant Kanters. This is a matter for the owner, Truckparking Network Netherlands BV, and the operator. - Greening Plans:
Frederique Jansen from the Municipality and a staff member from Buro Bol will give a presentation on the final greening plans for our village. Explanation of the 3-30-300 rule. There are several locations where work is already underway. Door-to-door visits will take place soon, and you’ll be able to order greenery and plants. These will be distributed on November 22 (though this coincides with the arrival of Sinterklaas). - Brabantse Delta Water Board Dike Reinforcement Project
Environmental Manager Bas Kuijpers provides an explanation. The feasibility of a bike path on the dike is being investigated. A letter of intent has been signed with the municipality regarding this matter. The dike will be reinforced to ensure its long-term durability; this work will not take place until 2029–2030, but there is no immediate danger until then. - Traffic and Public Transportation
Martin Vos from the working group notes that there is little to report on this at the moment. Discussions have taken place, but due to a change in personnel and the traffic expert’s illness, little progress has been made. More information will be provided at the next village meeting.
Road Reconstruction The preliminary design is complete. An information session was held last Tuesday. The main concern was speed and speed-reduction measures. The final design will be published on the municipal website and made available in person at the Ankerkuil. Work is expected to begin in mid-2026.- Housing Construction
- Julianastraat: A hearing will take place at the Council of State on October 15
- Koning Haakonstraat (former knitting factory): Once the feasibility study is complete, the documents will be submitted to the municipality for a decision. Likely in the first quarter of 2026
- Former Ankerkuil: Due to the current/uncertain future, the developer has decided not to proceed with development under the current circumstances. The municipality will resume discussions with the developer.
- Cafe De Put: The municipality will have the opportunity to purchase the adjacent residence under the Moerdijk Scheme. This will take place in January/February 2026, after which work will begin in earnest on the development and construction of four starter apartments at this location.
- Harbor Front Developments:
Martin Vos reports that everything is still moving forward. Work on reinforcing the quays will begin in October. A separate information session will be held at the Ankerkuil on September 29, starting at 7:30 p.m. The purpose of this session is to provide information about the upcoming work in the harbor, and the contractor will also introduce themselves. Everyone is welcome. - Energy Transition:
Corne van Leest provides an update on the meeting that took place last week with the energy buddies. Track 1 (including vouchers, short-term) is going well. As for Track 2 (which looks at energy sources that local residents can use to lower their energy bills), we’ve held off on this so far due to developments in our village, since it’s a longer-term initiative. The question is raised about how to proceed with this. Martin Vos indicates that we should definitely move forward with this because if we stand still and do not allow these kinds of developments to proceed, it will certainly not be good for the survival of our village.
Process-Oriented Working Group
- Powerport Update (See also slides):
Katja de Haan explains the municipality’s exercise of the right of first refusal on all land located within the Powerport expansion area. This is to maintain control over the land and to prevent land speculation.
An explanation will follow regarding the amendment to the Moerdijk Regulation, under which retroactive indexation has been reinstated. Lucas Aben has been appointed by the Municipality as project leader for the Moerdijk Regulation to develop the current regulation. For questions regarding the Moerdijk Regulation, please contact him.
As soon as a decision is made regarding the development direction that puts quality of life under pressure, this will require a different regulation. We are currently discussing this.
Renée Heijnen, the community relations manager for Powerport, and Peter Maris, a social worker from Surplus, have also introduced themselves. They are also available for questions and information.
In the coming period, the Powerport design committee would like to hear from residents about the prerequisites and conditions we consider important for both search directions that are now known. They will use this information as input to reach a decision. Pim Meijer of TwijnstraGudde also helped the village draft the Quality of Life Vision and will once again gather these prerequisites and conditions from the residents.
On October 1, there will be an open house in the Ankerkuil from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and everyone is welcome to stop by and share their ideas.
Other items on the agenda, the next meeting, and closing remarks.
The next Village Table meeting will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025 (starting at 7:30 p.m.) at the Ankerkuil.
