High-Voltage Substation: Take Action Before It's Too Late
The deadline for submitting comments on the plans for the new Port of Moerdijk high-voltage substation has been extended. This is because the information session has been postponed. The original deadline was June 18; the new deadline has not yet been announced. If you would like to submit a comment (statement of opinion) but still have questions about the project, please submit a “pro forma statement of opinion” as soon as possible so that your comment is received well before June 18. This message explains how that works.
To illustrate, here is a photo of the current 380-150 kV high-voltage substation in Diemen. This high-voltage substation has less capacity and also lacks a 20 kV medium-voltage substation. As a result, this substation covers a smaller area of approximately 16 ha.
On May 8, 2026, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy published the draft preferred alternative and the accompanying documents. Two locations are still under consideration for the power station, which consists of two high-voltage substations (380 and 150 kV) and one medium-voltage substation (20 kV). These are the Gorsdijk and Krukweg (North and South) locations.
The response deadline has been extended
The original deadline for submitting comments was June 18, 2026. Because the information session scheduled for June 10 has been postponed, the ministry decided to grant stakeholders additional time to submit their comments. Since the new deadline has not yet been announced, the municipality recommends submitting your comments well before June 18. That way, you will be sure to meet the deadline. You can supplement these comments after the information session.
