A copy or extract from the civil registry provides information about a person’s birth, marriage, registered partnership, divorce, or death. You need a DigiD to request a copy from the civil registry.

Transcript
A copy of a civil registry record is a photocopy of that record. It is issued to you, an authorized representative, or someone with a legitimate interest. The following individuals are considered to have a legitimate interest:
- The person named in the document;
- That person's parents;
- That person's children;
- Spouse/registered partner;
- Legal representative.
Excerpt
An extract contains limited information from the original deed. An extract is issued to you, an authorized representative, or another interested party (spouse or heir).
Multilingual (International) Extract
If you need a certified copy for an authority abroad, you can obtain a multilingual certified copy. A multilingual certified copy can be issued for a birth certificate, death certificate, and marriage certificate. It is not possible to issue a multilingual certified copy for a same-sex marriage or for any certificates other than those listed here.
