Klundert will phase out natural gas in the future. But we won’t make the switch right away. First, we’ll investigate which heating solution (the energy system of tomorrow) is the best fit for Klundert, is affordable, and aligns with what residents consider important.

Opportunity to connect the new Niervaert building with surrounding homes

The municipality is working on a new building for De Niervaert. This building will be sustainable and natural gas-free. This presents an opportunity to explore whether a natural gas-free heating system is feasible that could also be used to heat homes in the De Niervaert neighborhood. We are currently investigating this. Ultimately, we are examining how we can heat homes throughout Klundert without natural gas by 2050.

Where do we stand now?

On February 19 or 20, you’ll receive a letter inviting you to complete a survey. This survey is about what matters to you as you transition to natural gas-free living. We’ll take the results into account when determining which systems might be suitable for Klundert. In the survey, you can indicate whether you’d like to discuss the results. We’d love to form a focus group with anyone who’d like to contribute their ideas.

We are currently evaluating various systems that could be implemented in Klundert. Once this evaluation is complete, you’ll find the results and more information about the different systems here.

We’re also conducting a similar study in Helwijk. We’re already a step further along there than in Klundert.
