Rilland-Tilburg High-Voltage Transmission Line (Southwest 380 kV East)

Overview of all projects to improve energy infrastructure

The current high-voltage transmission line between Rilland and Tilburg has reached its maximum capacity. For this reason, a new 380 kV transmission line will be added. The existing 150 kV line in Moerdijk will be routed through the new high-voltage towers alongside the new 380 kV line. This will allow the existing towers supporting the 150 kV line to be removed. Without the new high-voltage line, problems with the electricity supply could arise.

What's coming up?

In our municipality, the route runs above ground from the west side of Standdaarbuiten to the north side of Zevenbergschen Hoek.

TenneT is the initiator of this project and is responsible for its implementation. The Ministry of Climate and Green Growth (KGG) is the coordinating ministry.

Where is this location?

Grid operator TenneT has created a map of the new route, showing how the new line will run. You can also look up your own address on this map and use 3D photos to see what the new line will look like in your area.

What is the latest update?

On July 12, 2022, the Minister for Climate and Energy and the then-Minister for Housing and Spatial Planning adopted the “Zuid-West 380 kV Oost” integration plan. This national integration plan enables the construction of the preferred route. Approximately 52 appeals against the adoption of the National Integration Plan were filed with the Council of State. In its ruling of October 23, 2024, the Council of State declared 50 of these appeals unfounded. For two of the appeals, the ministers were instructed to amend the Integration Plan. That amendment decision was adopted on April 14, 2025. On December 24, 2025, the Council of State declared the last two appeals unfounded. The Integration Plan is therefore final and irrevocable.

Preparatory work began in late 2024 with the construction of two temporary connections. One of them is located in our municipality, near the Sluissedijk in Standdaarbuiten. There, the 150-kV power line was reconfigured and the first 150-kV tower was dismantled.

Construction on the project began in November 2025. Stay up to date on the progress via the BouwApp (web version or download the BouwApp from the app store). More information about the app can be found onthe BouwApp website.

File a Claim for Planning-Related Damages

The plan for this connection is now final. This means you can file a claim for planning-related damages. Planning-related damages include both financial losses (decrease in the value of real property) and loss of income resulting from a land-use plan, such as changes to your surroundings.

You may submit your application up to 5 years after the integration plan (national zoning plan) becomes final. For this high-voltage transmission line, this means you must submit your application no later than December 24, 2030.

Officially, you must submit your application to the municipality. However, to make the process easier and faster, we recommend that you submit your application directly to the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). You can do this via this link:the RVO website. This will take you to RVO’s secure environment (MIJNRVO). Click the “Apply” button and log in with DigiD. Then select the appropriate form. While filling out the form, select the “380 kV Southwest-East” project once.

To submit an application, you must pay a €300 filing fee. You must pay this amount first; your application will then be processed. If you receive compensation for planning-related damages, or a portion thereof, this €300 will be refunded to you. Do you have questions about submitting an application? Please contactthe RVO.
