Zevenbergen-Oost Area Development
With the Zevenbergen Oost area development, the municipality of Moerdijk is taking an important step toward achieving its housing construction goal of a total of 2,700 homes throughout the municipality. The Zevenbergen Oost area development focuses on phased housing construction. In the first phase, Markvelden Noord will be developed with the construction of 450 homes. Ultimately, at least 1,000 homes will be built in the Zevenbergen Oost area over a period of approximately ten years. Sixty-five percent of the new homes will fall into the “affordable” category.
What's coming up?
Danny Dingemans, the alderman in charge, emphasizes the importance of this initiative: “Zevenbergen-Oost is an essential pillar for meeting our agreed-upon housing construction targets. At the same time, this new residential neighborhood will provide a livable, affordable, and green living environment for our residents.”
In addition to the phased residential construction, the Zevenbergen-Oost project also includes the construction of the Verlengde Zuidrand and Zuidrand Tunnel infrastructure projects. The Verlengde Zuidrand is the connection between the Zuidrand road and the Oostrand (N389) in Zevenbergen. This requires a tunnel under the railroad tracks: the Zuidrand Tunnel (a tunnel running from Bosselaar Zuid to Zevenbergen-Oost).
The Zevenbergen Oost project consists of ten subprojects that will be carried out in the coming years. These include both housing and infrastructure projects.
What is the latest update?
The zoning plan for “Markvelden Noord, Verlengde Zuidrand, and Zuidrand Tunnel” has been adopted.
Zevenbergen-Oost is made possible in part through collaboration with the following partners:
- Entire area (public housing and mid-range rental housing) – Residential neighborhood
- Markvelden Noord – Synchroon, Remmers, BPD
- Markvelden Zuid – Municipality of Moerdijk
- Zwaneveld – Residential District, AM Wonen, Ballast Nedam, and the Province.
- De Hil – Municipality of Moerdijk
